Resolving iLok Trial License Activation Issues In Ableton:
Every time you open up your DAW, it will perform a validation check of all plug-ins you have in your System folder to make sure they are operational. This is also the point where our license activation process is triggered, as the idea is to allow the verification process to continue after a valid license is found. However, if a license isn't found, then the workstation will deactivate the plug-in to prevent it from being used.
If you are trying one of our products for the first time, but don't select the Try option (below) during the Activation process, then it will be deactivated and will prevent you from activating a Trial License.
Ableton is quite strict in this respect, and will sometimes completely blacklist a plug-in from being used if this happens. This means that the License Activation process won't trigger again, which means that you won't be able to activate a trial license for our products.
One way to re-trigger the Activation Experience again, is by going to Live -> Preferences -> File Folder and in the Plug-in Sources section press and hold down the "option" key and then click on "Rescan" (screenshot below).
If this does not work, then you will have to remove and reinstall the products in order to remove them from Ableton's validation history. Either of these steps should then result in the Activation Screen to appear again. Following the steps will then allocate you a Trial License for the product, after which you will have access to the full functionality in Ableton.
